Welcome to Cohort 6! We are excited to have you join AHRQ's Safety Program for Ambulatory Surgery. This program is a national patient safety improvement collaboration focused on how to improve teamwork and communication and promote a culture of safety in your facility.

  • Archived recordings of educational sessions will be posted below for Cohort 6
  • All Educational webinars begin at 3:30 PM ET; Office Hours will begin at 3:00 PM ET

Learn More about Cohort 6

The curriculum for the endoscopy cohort will support AHRQ's Safety Program for Ambulatory Surgery objectives to:

  • Improve patient safety culture, and
  • Improve teamwork and communication among provider and staff

 Educational Webinars

  • Hosted by national program partners and subject matter experts
  • 45 minutes of educational content + 15 minutes for Q&A
  • Continuing Education Credits available for physicians and nurses

 

Office Hours

  • An open forum facilitated by a member of the National Program Team where facilities can discuss program barriers and successes and learn how to improve on program goals
  • Occur bi-monthly, 60 minutes in length

 

Learning Groups

  • Small group discussions that will be held intermittently throughout the program to enhance educational curriculum. Learning Groups provide additional opportunities for participants to connect with each other and experts to discuss their work in enhancing quality improvement efforts

 

LISTSERV®

  • A collaborative forum where centers can learn from each other by sharing resources and exchanging ideas

 

One-on-One Coaching

  • Individual phone calls with a dedicated Quality Improvement Advisor to discuss project progress (process/outcome measures and culture survey results) and to share successes and challenges

Other Harms and Infection Prevention Strategies

  • Scope cleaning, sterilization and reprocessing; sedation harms, infection surveillance

 

Surgical Safety Checklist

  • Measuring culture; engaging physicians; modifying the checklist specific to the GI setting; speaking up, engaging patients; maintaining checklist use
